Donut Holes

So I have really been wanting to make glazed donut holes and I figured "how hard can it be" right?! So I search for a recipe. I found cinnamon/sugar ones, chocolate covered, even lemon glazed! But no reg glazed. SO I found a good glaze recipe that was for cupcakes (it worked out great!) and set out to make them! So problem 1: It takes FOREVER to make dough! So I gave up on that and instead found some pre-made pizza crust dough (and some quick pretzel dough but I haven't tried that)! May I just say--dough is pretty much dough no matter if you get frozen, premade or spend 2 days making it! the pilsbury pizza dough in the can thing worked perfect!! I just rolled them into tiny balls and threw them in some hot vegetable oil in a pan (med heat) and you've got donuts all ready to coat! If you make bigger balls flatten them and they will rise/round up in he pan & cook more even! If not you will have raw dough in the middle FYI! So just use a spoon with holes and pull them out when they are golden onto a plate. Then coat them in glaze (let glaze harden) then you can put another coat of glaze if you like! Let glaze harden again and you're good to eat! If you prefer powdered sugar or cinnamon & sugar coating then just do that instead of glaze. If they cool a little before you coat them that's fine they will still coat beautifully! Maybe even better! Anyway, I will attach pictures and the glaze recipe when I get to it! Just thought I'd share my experience! Oh, I also added a note for my hubby that said, " DONUT you know I love you a HOLE bunch" too:)

So this is the baby shower gift I made:) It was super easy and cost be around $10 (I already had ribbon, key toy &diapers on hand) I got everything at the dollar tree (And that included the bag). I also added a burp cloth for the "seat" and poopy bag holder things under the seat part (also got at DT) Oh, and not shown is the tissue paper I stuck in the handle part because I couldn't find boy socks at the dollar store.

Only I should have used smaller sticks and I just mixed in Reeces PB Chips (like choc chips--brilliant U think!) and some choc chips! Very yummy but next time I'll just melt the PB Chips and coat them! Anyway, we downed them so I didn't get a picture!

I also made some yummy cheesecake! I used this recipe (my fav!) Only I did the heart swirl kind...I can't find the link to show how to do the heart swirls...but ya!:) Here's the pinterest one:

Scrabble Tile Magnets & the Coasters I made for my mom for her B-day

Here's the circle quilt I made awhile back! I can't remember where I got the pattern from??

I didn't really use a pattern...I cut circles, spray glued them where I wanted them, sewed them on (about 1/2 inch inside the circle-- and just outside them after I bound the front & back ) It has a frayed affect. Bind and wahla!

So I made this adorable crinkle toy for Sophia! She LOVES it!

I cut out a butterfly with my cricut machine and used the heat n bond to iron it on before I sewed and stuffed it. It was cute for about 30 mins! Then Allison decided to take the butterfly off:P So next time I'll sew my applique on:/

Anyway, I stuffed it with recycled grocery bags to make it crinkle! I've also seen where they attach a velco strap thing so you can attach it to the car seat! But I didn't do that with this one. Cute & simple!

So this Christmas was a good one:) Allison is at the age where everything is so exciting and cool so she made it extra fun! Oh, while I'm thinking of it: Allison has said her own ni night prayers twice now:) Okay, so really we say it then she repeats it, but still! So cute!:) Also another update: Sophie is a pro at rolling over now and she is determined to crawl (she "turns" now). She LOVES the blanket Aunt Adri made her for Christmas:) It's her "softy". Allison is also into drawing now so look out walls! We got her a Magnadoodle for Christmas! It's her favorite:)

Anyway, We all go lots of things including: That cool shopping list thing that prints off that I know you all saw on Pinterest, Chan got a GPS with lifetime updates (sweet), Clothes, Gift Cards, Scarves, hat, sewing machine cover, fabric, other craft stuff, Alli got a little broom, vacuum set (she loves that too), anyway, I'll add more soon. She is now 11 lbs!!! She eats plenty that's for sure! And she gets very stressed when Alli is around! But Allison loves her tons! Sophia is also Smiling! SOOO CUTE!:)

Okay, I must tell you my secret to these pictures....first I must say All Hail Pinterest! haha I found this cool tip on Pinterest to use a business card to defuse my flash so it lights up my frame without washing it out! Here's before editing:

not the best example but ya. Do you see how the card lets the light go around but not on the subject!Love it! :) Doesn't blind babies either.

I know I am WAY behind on my updates! So here's the "quick" version (haha)

August

Mesa Falls
We went to Mesa Falls, near Ashton Idaho, like a week or so before Sophia was born. Crystal & her family were up for a few weeks so we decided that would be a fun activity:) Here are some pictures from that:

SOPHIA RENEE MOORE
I had a scheduled C-Section at 9:00 am on Aug 17th because I wasn't really progressing (heck why not). At around 3:30 am my water started breaking. Guess she was inpatient to come. Went to hospital around 4 am. Why not I had to be there at 7 am for prep anyway. My water continued to flow hard at the hospital and started having contractions but still wasn't dilating. So they bumped the 7:30 am C-section to 9 am and they gave me my epidural and prepped me. By 7:30 I was "on the table" and by 7:51 a.m our beautiful little girl was born!
Sophia Renee Moore weighed in at 7 lbs 3 ozs and was 19.5 inches long. She has the prettiest hair we hope stays!It's mommy's color red right now so were hoping:) Verdict is still out on the eye color but were sure they will be light colored.

BTW, this c-section went excellent! I was up and walking soon after and healed very quickly! I think my scar looks even better this time around:) My Doctors were singing show tunes during the surgery and said I "have an excellent anatomy":) which is apparently the highest complement you can get! Anyway, it was a relief that all went well. She is breast feeding GREAT which is a huge relief also to not have all the complications like I did with Allison. Oh, and Allison LOVES the new baby! She totally ignores me & goes right for Sophie! Not really jealous unless she's really tired.

Pallisades Resevoir
So we also went to Pallisades Resevoir out past Swan Valley after Sophia was born.

Well as you can see the last month has been full of adventures! Speaking of adventures; we got called to be the Wolf Den leaders. The boys are so adorable and eager to be in scouts! It's alot of work but it's fun.

Aaron and Adrienne are getting sealed this sat (Sept 24th) in the Mount Tempanogus (sp?) Temple down in Pleasant Grove, UT. My friend Melissa Virgin is also getting married the same day in the same temple! :) So that's cool! We're going down Friday morning and coming back Saturday evening. Short trip but should be fun:)

I'll have to post pictures of our garden! We have gotten TONS of zucchini's, strawberries, lettuce, etc. but are just now getting red tomatoes:P Unfortunately it is already starting to feel like spring so I'm hoping we can enjoy at least a few tomatoes before the frost hits!

I have been working on organizing my house lately. Trying to get rid of all the clutter and make life a bit easier for all. It is a bit of a slow project with 2 little ones running around but it's not too bad. I'll post pictures of that soon I'm sure.

So I want to be more organized especially sense we have such a little place but it seems to never quite get done. SO maybe if I write my ideas down they might happen. Haha ya sure:p
Well,here it goes...I might add pictures layer of my unorganized messy areas.then take after pictures of course when I organize them! The problem is organizing tends to cost money, something we don't really have to spend on organizing. So it might take me awhile to do this:/ I'll prob try any look for low budget solutions!

Okay so here's clever idea #1:

I'm sure I can prob find them at garage sales or thrift stores for cheaper! Ok, so here's the ideas!:)
•Use a pocket shoe organizer to organize bath toys & toiletries in bathroom!
•Use to organize craft stuff

2. Fill pockets with baby items. Put the ones you use most at eye level.

Here are some categories you can use:

burp rags
pacifiers
lotions
diaper ointment
bottles
shoes
socks
gloves
stocking hats
booties
sunglasses

Extra bottles and diaper storage bags are stored at the bottom
Use a shoe organizer to keep all of your sandals and flip-flops organized.

July Update!

So I have a TON of updating to do, but I'll try and give you a speed version.....
In May we realized we weren't going to be getting the big round house so we started looking for places to stay in Rexburg and we found this cute little place! It turned out to be in the ward we were in before when we lived in the townhouse which is way cool:) Aaron & Adrienne share the house with us and anyway, it's way cool and we love it here!:) Here's a few pictures of the place, but it's not even close to the whole thing...maybe I'll post more later:) So we have been traveling and had visitors and been moving so It's been a little crazy around here. Not to mention I'm due with baby girl Sophia on Aug 20th and have been having contractions off and on already. I spent all of Monday cleaning and doing prep stuff for the new baby. You know, going through clothes, putting them where they go, getting organized, etc. I feel less stressed now that I'm mostly done with my pre baby prep stuff:) Sorry I have like NO pictures of the new baby! I think we only got ultrasound pictures instead a CD but maybe I just can't find the CD anyway....anyway, Crystal and her family are coming up this week and we're going to have family pictures taken while they are here. So you will get prego pictures and then when the new baby comes you'll see pictures of her of course!:) I'll try to be better about updating! Allison is of course the typical toddler. She throws fits, throws things in the toilet, tares books, throws everything really, blows kisses, says hi, bye, adri, jensea, owe (for aaron), mommy, daddy, potty, go go, don't, no, dipstick (thank you aunt Jensea), dog, kitty, ball, cheese, milk, ba ba,grandpa, grandma, poomp, bucky, grams, makes many animal sounds, and I'm sure I'm missing a dozen other words! She repeats alot of things and learns new words everyday! She loves dogs, cats, her ba ba, her kitty and other animal books, babies, baths, her toys, playing with her Aunts, Uncles and grandparents, etc, reading books, music, dancing and singing, strawberries, cheese, and just everything really! She's a pretty happy go lucky girl:) She's getting a whole mouth full of teeth as well. We love living in Rexburg and our friends Alisha & Paul and a few others live close by so it's nice. We're only a couple blocks from the hospital and around the block from my Dr. so it's really nice:)

Okay, so we're in this new house. It's 2 bedroom 1 bath upstairs and there's 3 rooms, 1 bathroom and the laundry room along with tons of storage space downstairs in the basement.

So Here are a TON of pictures from May-July. I'll put short descriptions and just a few pictures from each "event" to save time.

These pictures were taken in Salem Idaho. We just took a short little drive up for the day and had a picnic there and looked at the scenery!

Well...that was my super quick update! It will just have to do for now I guess. Hopefully I'll stay a bit more up to date but no promises because we're going to have another addition soon! Love to all!:)

Pillow Covers & Curtains

Okay, so I found these awesome curtains/fabric at a garage sale awhile back and I love the colors and vintage look! I was just going to make some pillow covers or something with them but when we moved to a house which was in need of some drapes very badly I decided to make them back into curtains and make a few throw pillows to match! My wonderful Mother put together the drapes for me while I was away and we made the pillows today to match! I LOVE how they turned out! Very vintage and cute if you ask me!

March/April Update!

So lets see...I haven't posted anything sense Alli & Chan's B-day so I figured I better do that! I have however posted plenty to facebook so for those of you who are on there this should all be old news.
I posted a prego picture of me at week 23 in my pregnancy (which I'm at now). I feel slightly larger with this one that with Allison but still keeping my girlish figure quite well. haha
Allison is becoming quite the big little girl these days. Already talking back and throwing fits. She can say several things including: daddy, ma ma, da da, bye bye, hi ya, hi, cheese, uh oh, all gone, go, dog, grandma, grandpa, baba, cookie, car, and I'm sure I'm missing many others, but those are the main ones. She has gotten quite good at telling us what she wants or needs.She's just plain cute!
So we got her a bunch of cool things lately including: a toy barn, a toy that looks like a mower kind of that has stuff on it she can push...I'll post a picture, a monkey almost as big as her, a baby doll (she loves her! It's so cute), a princess couch thing, and some other "need" things. All of which we either got at a garage, off craigslist or on sale/clearance!
Some of Allison's fav things:
Playing in the Cabinets
Going (anywhere--outside, the store, etc)
Playing with her barn, baby and other toys
Balls (funny thing is she used to be terrified of them!)
Strawberries :)
Mommy (of course)

Beef Sticks (She's so strange! The hotter something is the better!)
Music! She loves to dance and has taken up "singing"! I'll have to post videos when I can:)
Shoes (not wearing them just playing with them)
Running from mommy (especially when she has something she's not supposed to! And just running)
Animals of any kind
Playing with other kids
Anything she can put stuff in or take things out of--A box, a bin, the diaper bag, etc.
Books--eating and reading them
Paper of any kind--apparently it's delicious!

She was being SO funny this day!

This is "THE BOX" Allison spent a good week with this beloved box. She would push it all over and put things in it and then take it all out and do it all over again. The sad ending to this story is that we had to take it away after she decided it was quite tasty and was always eating the corners of it. It was a sad day, but she finds other things to hide her shoes in.

These are the amazing containers I found at Ikea for only $4.99 each!! They are huge and have a nice soft fabric covering. Very nice for her toys and will be a perfect addition to her play room in the new house!:)

Okay, so this year instead of buying chocolates I made some of my own with bars of chocolate. I just wanted to try it out! So here is the results!:)

These are the gorgeous Spring flowers Chandler brought home for me just one random day! It caught me totally off guard it was so cute! I love when he does sweet things like that out of the blue!:)

Anyway, Chan and Grandpa Groll just went and got all the eggs and set them beside her:) She thought that was pretty great:)

She figured out how to open them and just sat there eating the jelly beans:)

I had to have some Easter pictures! We don't have many "family pictures" so I took advantage of the Holiday to get a few shots:) (Thanks mom!)

Okay, so this app is of course FREE and I think it's better than all those other apps like where is my car, etc. It not only maps where your car is, but ANYWHERE you are:) Your favorite fishing hole, where you put your keys, someone's house, a new place you discovered, where your hotel is, and pretty much anything. I mapped where my bedroom was this morning if that tells you anything. Now I will always know where I sleep at night. haha It's cool.
Just have to search for it on your iphone, ipad or ipod touch.

3)iWant

It's FREE of course:)
Okay, so this app is also one of those that combines a bunch of apps together. Like Where, urbanspoon, etc. It pretty much can find anything around you your looking for. Here's the description:

So I realized that I hadn't made my big announcement on here yet! Well then...
I am pregnant with baby #2! I'm due August 20th, 2011! So however many weeks that makes me...like 13 weeks?? Something like that:) I haven't put the ultrasound picture on the computer because I'd have to scan it, etc. and that's just a pain. Maybe they will give me a CD sometime. He or She just looks like a little gummy bear right now. With Alli runny around it's hard to remember I'm pregnant sometimes. No worries, I remember when I get up feeling sick and I'm constantly having to eat and feel tired all the time. I've already gotten sick like 2 times and almost lost it a bunch. Anyway, I should be taking a nap while Allison is sleeping so ya, just wanted to announce it officially! :)

I saw this idea on a blog somewhere:

I took it a little further and came up with this:

1. Black Paint

2. Dust off your scrabble game that you've been hiding (I found mine at a pawn shop for $0.50)

3. Paint the tile trays black

4. You can just put the tiles on after it's all dry with whatever words you want to.

But I took this a step forward and used the blank tiles to add a little something to it.

I used a small kiss dicut, super glued it on and added a little glitter to it. you can mod podge it but you don't have to. I put a heart button on the same way.

Marshmallow Fondant

Okay, so this is so much easier than I thought. I've seen and had it before, but didn't know it was this easy. Maybe I'll actually try my hand at it some day. I found the tutorial/recipe HERE and I'll post the full thing below. Just know it's not from me it's from the above link! Enjoy!

"How to Make Marshmallow Fondant

Marshmallow fondant is easy to make and pretty fun to use. You can cover cakes and cookies with it to give them a smooth professional-looking finish or you can cut out shapes and designs to decorate your icing with. Its cheaper to make your own fondant than it is to buy it pre-made plus the pre-made stuff tastes a bit like cardboard unless you are willing to pay for a very high end product.

All you need is:

Marshmallows - they can be big marshmallows or mini ones, either one works fine.
Icing sugar - You'll be mixing the icing sugar into the marshmallows to make a dough so I usually make sure that I have an entire bag on hand.. but I rarely use the whole bag.
Food colouring
Flavoring oil - This is optional. If you don't add this your fondant will be sweet and flavorless which works well if your got all the flavors your want in your cake already

This time I decided to make it with those mini fruit flavored marshmallows. I had to sort them by colour first. I figured they would add a little bit of flavor to the fondant so I wouldn't have to add much flavoring oil.

I use gel colours to dye my fondant but regular food colouring will work too. You won't be able to get really dark colours without making your fondant sticky, but for lighter colours you can just even it out with more icing sugar.
I also had lemon oil and coconut flavoring on hand.. oh la la the value brand (which still works fine).
Step One:
Take a couple of handfuls of marshmallows and put them in a microwave safe bowl. Add a couple of drops of water and toss the marshmallows in it until they are all a bit damp. If you are going to just make one colour then put the whole bag of marshmallows in the bowl and add a couple of teaspoons of water. If you're going to put flavoring oil in, add it now and add less water
I like to make smaller batches because its easier to add the colour to the melted marshmallow than it is to work the colour into the fondant later.
Step Two:
Stick the marshmallows in the microwave for ten seconds at a time until the are puffed up and easily stir into a goo with a wooden spoon. Tip: Grease your spoon with butter, things can get a bit sticky.
Step Three:
Add food colouring to the melted marshmallows until you get the colour you want. Remember that you're going to be adding icing sugar which will lighten the colour so make it a bit brighter than you need.

Step Four:
Start folding icing sugar into the marshmallow goo until it becomes a soft and fluffy dough. Grease your hands with a bit of butter and turn the marshmallow out onto a table sprinkled with icing sugar. Continue to knead in icing sugar until the fondant is stiff enough to roll out.
If you add too little icing sugar the fondant will be very sticky- Just add more icing sugar
If you add too much icing sugar the fondant will be very stiff and hard to roll out - knead in a little bit of butter

For this batch of colours I made larger batches of lighter colours and then worked some extra gel colouring into the already made fondant to make smaller batches of darker colours. The dark purple and dark green were made from the a light pink and light green.
All you need to do is knead the gel colour in.. it takes a while to get it all mixed in which is why I only do it for smaller batches.

To store your fondant wrap them in pieces of lightly greased plastic wrap and keep them either in a big ziplock bag or a tupperware container. The fondant is essentially a sugar paste (its just marshmallows and icing sugar) so it has a shelf life of three or four months. If it feels a bit stiff and hard to use after being stored for a long time you can soften it up by kneading a bit of butter in or putting in the microwave one-two seconds at a time.

Now its ready to roll out and use to decorate your cakes and cookies!"

Just use scrapbook paper and add the vinyl letters then frame it with the glass. I'd prob. add a coat of mod podge too. wahla. I'll have to test it out:)

So I made some pretty brilliant discoveries and ideas lately.

One being fruit ice cubes. Blend Orange Juice, Banana's, and a bag of frozen mixed berries (usually they have strawberries, blackberries and raspberries in them). It's good fresh, but also very yummy frozen in an ice cube tray (good for putting in alli's little food contraption. You can put like oranges, ice cubes, etc. in it and it has a little mesh type thing so that they can bite and suck the juices out but can't choke on the actual object. Messy but brilliant). Alli loves them and they don't have any added sugar, etc. I put the fruit cubes in some lemonade and oh boy was it YUMMY! Think raspberry lemonade only better! If that's possible. Would be good as a punch at a party.

So I was trying to think of ways to use my baby food jars and my formula cans and I think I have found some very useful ways or using both.
For the baby food jars I take the label off and wash them (in the dishwasher). Usually there's a sticky film on them from the label still which can be taken care of easily, but I haven't bothered with that yet. We picked up a magnetic knife rack from ikea for $8.99 and I just put the strip on my table and stick the jars upside down on it. You could put it under a table ledge or desk ledge or the underside of a shelf...or right on the wall. You can also cover the jars and make them look "pretty", but this works for now.
Okay, so my idea for the formula cans....
I have the regular sized Similac Advanced cans, but I'm sure you could do the same for the larger flip lid ones. My idea is to cover the outside of the can with scrapbook paper (maybe mod podge it) and them either put a sticker on the lid that says what's in it or a name, etc. you could do anything really or just decorate it with a bow, paper, etc. Then you could fill it with anything really but my idea was to put shredded paper or confetti in it and put a gift such as jewelry, homemade chalk, homemade fudge or other yummy treat, or an 'emergency' kit or anything really. Candy, spa kit, etc. You can personalize it for whom ever you are giving the gift to. Or just use it as a chalk holder, pencil holder, treasure holder, spice holder?, piggy bank etc. Anyway...it's the same idea as decorating like a paint can only it's easier to clean.
Anyway...those are some of my stokes of genius. I will have to go crazy with the formula can idea and take some pictures for everyone to see. I also need to take pictures of the other 2 things as well.

Oh and on a not so pleasant note, I had to use the trash can as a "chucky bucket" this morning right after breakfast :P There went that bowl of cereal. 1st this pregnancy and totally out of nowhere. I have my first apt today for baby #2 as well. What a day.
My parents got Allison a crib as our families "big present" this year. It is SO CUTE and SO NICE. I love it. I need to take pictures of it still. The only time I seem to be in there is when I getting her out of bed or putting her in bed so I'll eventually get a picture. We needed a bumper really bad and thought about making one because it's cheaper that way and they have such ugly dumb ones it seems. But we went into DI the other day in Rexburg and low and behold dad finds the perfect one for only $3! You can't beat that anywhere. Even at a garage sale! It looks brand new and is very simple with just a few sayings on it. Pink in color. SO CUTE. Anyway...I was super excited about that. I'll post pictures later.
Oh, I also got a toy in the mail today that I got with my pampers reward points. Its a monkey that rattles and has teething rings on it. I can't wait to see Allison's reaction.

We got a Christmas package from Aunt Whitney which had alot to do with Chandler's cheese fetish. Different kinds of graters, etc. Among this package was a little rubber mouse. Allison LOVES this mouse! If she looses it under the couch she lays on the ground and tries to get it out from under the couch and cries if anyone takes it away. It's incredibly weird, but she thinks it's the greatest. I'll have to take a picture of that too:)

Allison is teething more (of course). She now has 3 teeth on top with the 4th coming in and her 2 cute little teeth on bottom. She has learned how to use them on all sorts of things (other than food). Like me and daddy's knees, legs, shoulders, and any object she can get her hands on.
For Christmas Grams and Poomps sent $ for Allison. Thanks!We got some adorable dresses with it as well as some crib sheets. She needed some new dresses badly. The only one that fit her and wasn't summery was the one Aunt Whitney got her at Thanksgiving. (Which is totally adorable!) I have some pictures of her in her little dresses. For some reason I don't have a picture of her in the 4th dress or it by itself. It's the same as the black one with polka dots only it has white/black/red plaid on the bottom part and red on the top.She obviously isn't very good about keeping her shoes on:) She's such a ham:)

She kept either wanting to play with her shoes, jump up and down or play with daddy who was standing next to me. It was funny:)

Traditional English Bread-and-Butter Pudding

Take Home Chef, Episode 3: Mary's Menu

INGREDIENTS

3 1/2 cups whole milk
3 cups whipping cream
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 ½ tablespoons vanilla extract
9 whole large eggs
9 large egg yolks
1 cup raisins
6 croissants (each torn into 8-10 pieces)

PREPARATION:

Preheat the oven to 275°F. Stir the milk, cream, sugar and vanilla in a heavy large saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the milk mixture is warm, about 10 minutes.
Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly. Whisk the whole eggs and the yolks together in a large bowl, then gradually whisk into the warm milk mixture. Place the croissant pieces in a 13x9-inch baking dish.
Pour the custard over the croissant pieces and sprinkle the raisins over. Press gently to submerge the croissants and raisins. Let stand for 20 minutes to allow the croissants to absorb some of the custard. Place the baking dish in a large roasting pan. Set the roasting pan on the oven shelf. Add enough warm water to the roasting pan to come halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
Bake until the pudding is firm to the touch, about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Serve warm.

I would actually use the meatball recipe and use hamburger and use regular noodles.

Linguini with Turkey Meatballs and Ragu of Tomatoes and Roasted Peppers

Take Home Chef, Episode 5: Paige's Menu

INGREDIENTS

1 red bell pepper
1 yellow bell pepper
2 teaspoons plus 3 tablespoons/55 ml olive oil
1 onion, finely diced
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 red jalapeno chili, finely chopped
2 tablespoons/25 g tomato paste
(4) 14-ounce/400-g cans whole tomatoes
1 large sprig fresh thyme
2 sprigs fresh oregano
1 bay leaf
1pound/470 g fresh tomatoes, coarsely chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup/about 5 g fresh basil leaves, torn into pieces
3 slices white sandwich bread (about 4 ounces/115 g), crust trimmed, bread torn into pieces
1/2 cup/105 ml whole milk
1 pound/470 g ground turkey meat
1/2 onion, finely diced
1 carrot, peeled, finely diced
1 celery stalk, finely diced
1 large egg
3 tablespoons/about 7 g chopped fresh flat leaf parsley
2 tablespoons/5 g finely chopped fresh oregano
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons/about 5 g salt
1 teaspoon/about 3 g freshly grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon/about 3 g paprika
1/2 teaspoon/about 1 1/2 g freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup (about)/80 g all purpose flour, for dusting
3 tablespoons/45 ml olive oil
1 pound/470 g fresh linguini
2 tablespoons/25 g unsalted butter
1/4 cup/10 g finely chopped fresh flat leaf parsley

PREPARATION:

Preheat the oven to 450°F/232°C. Line a cast iron pan or roasting pan with foil and place in the oven for 10 minutes, or until very hot. Using oven mitts, remove the pan from the oven and place the bell peppers in the hot pan. Rub 2 teaspoons/10 ml of olive oil over the peppers to coat.
Using oven mitts, place the pan in the oven and roast the peppers for 20 minutes, turning the peppers over every 5 minutes, or until the skins are blackened and blistered on all sides.
Using tongs, transfer the peppers to a bowl, and cover with plastic wrap. Allow the peppers to steam for 15 minutes. Remove the plastic wrap and allow the peppers to cool slightly. Peel the skin off of the peppers and remove the seeds.Cut the peppers into strips. Transfer the pepper strips to a bowl, and toss to combine.
Meanwhile, in a large pot, heat the remaining 3 tablespoons/45 ml of oil over medium heat. Add the onions, jalapeno chili and garlic, and sauté for 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent. Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Squeeze the tomatoes to crush them slightly and add them with their sauce to the pot.
Add the sprig of thyme, the leaves from the sprig of oregano, and the bay leaf. Stir in the fresh tomatoes and the roasted bell pepper strips. Simmer gently over medium-low heat for 1 1/2 hours, to allow the flavors blend, stirring occasionally and adding 1/2 cup/115 ml of water after the first hour. Season the sauce to taste with salt and pepper. Add the basil.
Place the bread in a large bowl. Pour the milk over and toss to coat. Let stand for 10 minutes, or until the bread absorbs the milk and becomes very soggy. Add the turkey, onion, carrot, celery, egg, parsley, oregano, garlic, salt, nutmeg, paprika and pepper. Using your hands, blend the turkey mixture thoroughly.
In a large nonstick frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Working in batches and using about 2 tablespoons/30 g for each, shape the turkey mixture into 24 golf ball-sized meatballs, dusting your hands with flour to coat the meatballs and prevent the mixture from sticking to your hands. Add the meatballs to the hot oil and cook for 10 minutes, or until they are brown on all sides. Transfer the meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 20 minutes.

To make the pasta:

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguini and cook until tender but still firm to the bite, stirring often to prevent the pasta from sticking together, about 4 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/3 cup/80 ml of the cooking water. In a large sauté pan over medium heat, stir the butter and 1/3 cup/80 ml of the reserved cooking water to blend. Add the linguini with the parsley and toss to coat.
Using a two-pronged carving fork, swirl some of the pasta around the fork. Slide the pasta off the fork and mound it in the center of a plate. Repeat for each serving. Arrange the meatballs around the pasta. Spoon the sauce over the meatballs and around the pasta, and serve.

Homemade Waffles with Caramelized Apples and Vanilla Ice Cream

Take Home Chef, Episode 5: Paige's Menu

INGREDIENTS

3/4 cup/168 g sugar
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
1/2 cup (1 stick)/113 g unsalted butter
6 Pink Lady apples (about 2 1/2 pounds/1.1 kg), cored and each cut into eight 1-inch-wide wedges
½ cup/65 g raisins
1/4 cup/55 g heavy whipping cream
1 1/2 cups/245 g all purpose flour
3 tablespoons/42 g sugar
2 1/4 teaspoons/about 5 g baking powder
3/4 teaspoon/about 3 g baking soda
3/4 teaspoon/about 4 g salt
1 1/2 cups/360 ml whole milk
1 large egg
3 tablespoons (1/4 stick)/40 g melted unsalted butter
Nonstick cooking spray
1 1/2 pints/710 ml vanilla ice cream

PREPARATION:

To caramelize the apples and raisins:

Place a large heavy frying pan over medium heat. Add the sugar. Using a small sharp knife, scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean into the sugar and add the bean. Cook for 2 minutes, or until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the butter. Add the apples and toss to coat.
Cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes, or until the apples begin to soften and release their juice Stir in the raisins. Continue to cook, gently tossing the apples occasionally, for 5 minutes, or until the apples are tender but still hold their shape and the caramel sauce forms. Stir in the cream.
Meanwhile, preheat the Belgian waffle iron. Preheat the oven to 200°F/93°C. Sift the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a bowl. In a separated bowl, whisk the milk, egg and melted butter to blend. Add the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.
Ladle about 1/2 cup/105 ml of the waffle batter onto each of the two 4 1/2-inch-/11-cm-square grids or about 3/4 cup/155 ml over a 7-inch-/18-cm-diameter grid on the waffle iron. Cover and cook for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on your iron (most new irons have a timer), or until the waffle is golden and crisp on the outside and cooked through. Transfer the waffles to the oven tray and keep them warm in the oven, while cooking the remaining waffles.
Cut the square waffles diagonally in half or cut the round waffles into 4 wedges. Place two hot waffles triangles or wedges on each plate. Spoon the caramelized apple mixture over the waffles. Scoop the ice cream atop and serve immediately.

Take Home Chef, Episode 9: Lara's Menu

INGREDIENTS

For the cake:
1½ sticks butter (softened)
1 cup castor sugar
6 eggs separated
6oz plain dark chocolate, melted
½ tea spoon of ground cinnamon
For the ganache:
¾ cup heavy cream
6 oz plain dark chocolate, melted

PREPARATION:

To make the cake:

Preheat oven to 180 C/350 F. Grease and flour an 8 inch x 4 inch high spring form cake tin. Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add the egg yolks one at a time (slowly).
Mix in the melted chocolate and the ground cinnamon. Whisk the egg whites in a separate bowl until they form stiff peaks. Stir 1/3 of the egg whites into the mixture to loosen the mixture. Slowly fold the rest of the egg whites into the mixture. Pour mixture into the prepared cake tin. Bake in the oven for 35-40 min. Remove from cake tin and allow to cool for 45min. Cake will deflate during cooling.

To make the ganache:

In a medium sized sauce pan, heat the cream and add the melted chocolate and stir. Allow to cool slightly.
Cut off the uneven crust from the top of the cake. Invert cake onto a cooling rack set over a large bowl. Pour ganache over the cake and allow excess to drain off. Decorate cake with candles and serve with whipped cream.

INGREDIENTS

2 sticks unsalted butter (melted)
12 sheets of filo pastry
1/2 cup soft light brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup dried apricots, chopped
3/4 cup walnuts (crushed)
1/4 cup organic honey

PREPARATION:

Preheat oven to 180°c / 375°F degrees. Brush a baking tray with a little melted butter. Place 1 sheet of filo pastry on the tray and sprinkle with a little sugar. Repeat this process with 4 sheets of filo.
Sprinkle half of the raisins, half of the dried apricots and one third of the walnuts and then top with another layer of filo. Butter and sprinkle with sugar as before with another 4 sheets of filo. Repeat dried fruit and walnut layer.
Finish with another 4 layers of filo buttering and sugaring each layer. Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
Score diamond shapes into the top layer of filo. Drizzle with honey and allow to cool completely. Cut into diamonds, sprinkle with remaining walnuts, and serve.

Chocolate Pots de Creme

INGREDIENTS

1 2/3 cups heavy whipping cream
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
8 ounces Valrhona semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
6 large egg yolks

PREPARATION:

Preheat the oven to 250°F/120°C. In a medium saucepan, combine the cream, milk, sugar and vanilla. Whisk to blend and bring to a boil over medium heat. Add the chopped chocolate and whisk until all the chocolate has melted. Remove from the heat.
In a large bowl, lightly beat the egg yolks. Then, in a slow, steady stream, add the chocolate-cream mixture, whisking until smooth. Divide the mixture among 6 ramekins or small custard bowls (about 6 ounces each), and place them in a large high-sided baking dish or baking pan.
Make a bain-marie, or water bath, by pouring cold water into the baking dish so that it comes halfway up the sides of the ramekins or custard bowls. Cover tightly with foil and bake on the center rack for 50 minutes to 1 hour, or until the custards jiggle slightly in the center when gently shaken (the custards will thicken as they chill).
Let cool to room temperature and then refrigerate until cold. Serve cool.

INGREDIENTS

For the Cake Base:
Nonstick cooking spray
1 1/4 cups/250 g sugar
3/4 cup/170 g unsalted butter, room temperature
3 large eggs
3 tablespoons/60 ml light corn syrup
3 tablespoons/20 g finely ground almonds
1 1/4 cups/195 g self-rising flour
2/3 cup/70 g unsweetened cocoa powder
8 ounces/225 g fresh strawberries, halved lengthwise
For the Mousse:
10 1/2 ounces/300 g good-quality white chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 envelope (2 1/2 teaspoons/about 5 g) unflavored gelatin
4 large eggs
1/4 cup/50 g sugar
2 cups/470 ml heavy whipping cream
6 ounces/170 g fresh strawberries, diced
To assemble the cake:
2 ounces/55 g fresh whole strawberries, for garnish
One 3.5-ounce/100-g bar good-quality white chocolate, for garnish

PREPARATION:

To make the cake base:

Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C. Spray a 10-inch/25-cm diameter springform pan with nonstick cooking spray. Beat the sugar and butter in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Beat in the syrup and ground almonds. Sift the flour and cocoa powder over the cake batter.
Using a large rubber spatula, fold the flour mixture into the batter (the batter will be thick). Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the sides puff slightly and a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out with some moist crumbs attached (do not bake the cake until the toothpick comes out clean or the cake will be too dry).
Transfer the cake pan to a rack and cool completely. Press the edges of the cake down to help level the cake, if necessary. Line the halved strawberries atop the cake with the cut sides against the sides of the pan and with the tips pointing toward the edge of the pan. Set the cake aside while preparing the mousse.

To make the mousse:

Place the white chocolate in a medium Pyrex bowl. Set the bowl of chocolate over a saucepan of simmering water and stir until the chocolate melts. Pour 3 tablespoons/40 g of cold water into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin over the water and let stand for 5 minutes to soften.
Stir the gelatin over low heat until the gelatin dissolves. Meanwhile, using an electric mixer, beat the eggs and sugar in a large bowl for about 5 minutes, or until the mixture is thick and light and medium peaks form. Beat in the melted chocolate then the melted gelatin mixture.
Set the bowl over another larger bowl of ice water and stir the mixture until cold and thick but not set. While the chocolate mixture chills and thickens, beat the cream in another large bowl with an electric mixer until soft semi-firm peaks form. Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.

To assemble the cake:

Spoon half of the mousse over the cake in the pan. Sprinkle with the diced strawberries. Spoon the remaining mousse over the cake. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours, or until the mousse is set. Slide a vegetable peeler across the white chocolate bar to form chocolate curls. Garnish the cake with the chocolate curls and whole strawberries.

Take Home Chef, Episode 54: Terah's Menu

INGREDIENTS

6 ounces/170 g fresh blackberries
6 ounces/170 g fresh blueberries
6 ounces/170 g fresh raspberries
4 fresh strawberries, halved lengthwise
8 ounces/230 ml heavy whipping cream
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
8 ounces/230 g good-quality white chocolate, finely chopped

PREPARATION:

Arrange all the berries in a single layer on a baking sheet, making sure they are well spaced apart. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 2 hours or until the berries are frozen.
Meanwhile, place the cream in a heavy medium saucepan. Using a small sharp knife, scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean into the cream. Add the bean to the cream.
Bring the cream to just below simmering over medium heat. Place the chocolate in a bowl and pour the hot cream mixture over the chocolate. Discard the vanilla bean.
Let stand for 5 minutes to allow the chocolate to melt slightly, then stir the cream mixture until the chocolate has melted completely and the sauce is smooth. Arrange the berries on a serving platter or in individual bowls and pour the hot sauce over the frozen berries. Serve at once.

So we had a very good Christmas. I posted a bunch of pictures on facebook already, but I figured I needed to update my blog:) So, I will start from the beginning and work my way to the present day. It's now Jan 8th, 2011 so as you can imagine I have a bit to blog about!

So, Christmas Eve we got PJ's from mom (all matching and everything with little monkey's). Even the kids had all matching PJ's. Here are a few pictures from that:

So Allison is now standing up on her own for short periods of time and has taken to climbing the stairs...and falling down. I usually catch her before she gets up and way before she falls down, but the other day I thought daddy was playing with her on the steps when really he left her and went upstairs. I guess she wanted to follow him because the next thing I knew she was up and falling down. She got a nice little bang. Thank heavens it was only one stair. Poor thing. I'm hoping after that she will stay away from the stairs...I think that's wishful thinking though. The way the people built the stairs makes it impossible to put up a baby gate also. So I just have to watch that sneaky little girl a little carefully. Even if I think daddy has her:)
She's doing pretty good with the Christmas tree so far...haha...okay not really. She likes the sparkly bulbs and the candy canes and my tree now looks odd without bulbs on the bottom and the lights being broken on the top half...oh well:) Funny thing is she hasn't even touched or even looked at the teddy bear tree which she can play with to her hearts content if she wanted to! As is life I guess.
We are working on "baby proofing" the house a little more. Allison can reach the top shelf of the dvds now and will find anything she's not supposed to have...We're working on "Audrey proofing" the house, but I'm not sure if that's really possible now (huh Crys):) So I guess we will have to just keep very close watch on Audrey, Jane, Claire and Allison this Christmas:)
Allison is also getting a 3rd tooth and working on the 4th (so she has 2 on bottom and working on the 2 on top now). She's been very good with the whole teething thing though. There was a day or two in Yuma where she was hurting really bad, but we got her some tylenol and she was ok after that. The teething gel doesn't last very long at all.
Anyway...I'm working on selling some of my jewelry down in Yuma now. So that's exciting. I've already made a little money there which is good. I got a few stocking stuffers for Alli the other day. So that's nice.
I uploaded a bunch of pictures to my Yorkphoto the other day. I was pretty behind on that. I also found a sweet program where I can upload my videos right to You Tube (as many at a time as I want which is awesome) and it can do other things too, but ya. That helps alot!
Anyway...I'll have to add some pictures and videos to here soon!

Today is me and Chandler's 3 year anniversary:) It has gone by SO fast! We have experienced many things together.We have a beautiful baby girl:) and lots of love to go around! You know what the weird thing is, I was totally thinking about doing this! I think I'd do it like my sleep sack though. With short sleeves and then have a velcro wrap to swaddle their arms. It'd prob. be easier anyway...great idea from Samster Mommy

'DIY Sleepsack (Hurray! Sleep!!)

***there is no guarantee that the following pattern will in fact produce a sleeping child

First off, "HELLLOOOoooooo dear blog friends!"

You thought I'd lost myself in a deep mommyland abyss didn't you?! Well no my dearest, despite reflux, stomach bugs, potty training & mastitis (TMI, I know...) I'm still trucking along & somehow by the dear grace of my Lord above I was able to sew something!!!

I don't know what it's like where you live but around here it's getting downright chilly. Despite my best effort to bundle up little Soph she still wakes up every night with icebox hands. That's why I decided to make an uber-warm, fully lined, mitten sleeved sleepsack for her. (anything that might produce more sleep is worth the effort in my book)

The outside is a no-pill fleece print from Jo-Ann's (50% off this week!) & the lining is this luxuriously soft chamois type fabric that I snagged from the fabric store scrap pile over a year ago. Throw in a 22" long zipper, a sleepsack to make the pattern from & a panini sandwich (mmmm...cheeeese) & you've got everything you need to make your own ultra cozy sleepsack.
With the directions below feel free to leave out the sleeves for a traditional sleepsack (& super fast project) or leave out the lining if you want it for more everyday use.

First things first, I got Samster down for a nap & tucked Sophster into her swing...Next I got started making my pattern by using one of Sophie's existing sleepsacks. I make most of my projects by drawing patterns from existing items, I find it easiest to use a big roll of paper (Ikea) & a highlighter to outline my pattern since I inevitably will get some on the clothes. Then I add a 1/4" seam allowance around the outside of the drawing.Use your new pattern to cut out 1 piece of your outer fabric & 2 of your lining fabric.Take one of the two lining cutouts & slice it right down the middle. Also cut a V shape at the neck. These will be the lining pieces for the front half of the sack.To make the outer front pieces place one of your new lining fabric halves on top of your outer fabric & cut out the outer fabric to the same dimensions except for adding 1" along the inside edge. (this is going to be used for your zipper lining)Next while you're still in the pattern making mood go ahead & whip up some sleeves. I used a pair of Sophie's pj's whose armholes were roughly the same size as my sleepsacks. Be sure to fold the fabric in 1/2 along the top of the sleeve that way you'll only have to sew up the bottom to form a tube. Cut out 2 & set aside.Now back the main body...time to sew in your zipper. (let me just say this is the first time I've ever sewn a zipper into anything. They intimidate the crap out of me. I tried reading the enclosed directions but they were all in professional seamstress jargon & I just couldn't translate. The way I ended up doing it may not be appropriate zipper etiquette but it did work for me so I'm happy with it. The end.)
Working with just the front sleepsack pieces I pinned my lining & outer fabrics together so they were all lined up. Next I folded the 1" extended piece of the outer fabric over & pinned it along the zipper.(In the picture below bottom piece is what it looks like when you pin the extended piece over & then if you flip it over & stitch it to the zipper it'll look like the top one)For stitching the zipper on I worked with it zipped, first down the left & then down the right.
I did lots of pinning first to make sure it would lay properly.I also hemmed the edge of the neck "V" above the zipper.
Repeat on opposite side of zipper, unzipping if you need to.

Now that you have the front piece finished you'll need to hem the neckline along the back 1/2 of the sleep sack so it matches up with the "V". I just pinned it over & stitched it down. For both that seam & the "V" hems I did one straight stitch seam & one scalloped looking zig zag stitch. It ended up this way because of a mistake I made not catching the lining the first time I stitched it but I kind of like it...Next up, with your right sides facing together go ahead & stitch across the shoulders. Afterwards open the two pieces up & take a sleeve piece (opened up as well) & pin it along the armhole area.Stitch one sleeve along the "armhole arc" & then repeat on other side.

At this point the swing was no longer cutting it for Soph but I was determined to finish.
Bring in the Bjorn...Now for the little mitten cover ups I basically just sewed a little flap of fabric into the sleeve that could be flipped over to cover hands or left flipped up to allow the hands to come through the sleeve. You've probably seen these on most newborn long sleeved onesies or those little kimono tops they wear in the hospital. Well, I confused the heck out of myself with how to sew them on & in the end did it wrong so if you want to give it a try I'd say take a good long hard look at a onesie that has them. If you figure it out correctly please let me know!

And finally the last step...whew!

Take your entire piece & turn it inside out. Take great care to smoooooth out the fabric (paying special attention to catch both outer fabric & lining) & pin along the perimeter of the sleepsack & bottom of sleeves. Stitch one nice long stitch around the whole thing, flip it right side out & wah-lah!I think my husband's comment sums it up..."can you make one in my size?" '

Infinity Scarf Follow Up

So here are a few pictures of how my infinity scarf turned out using the largest (yellow) knifty knitter hoop. It was pretty simple. I pretty much just made a large "brim" like you would make for the hats. Stretched out it's about 11 inches wide. Not stretched it's about 6 inches. I used Lion Brand Yard--HOMESPUN--The color # is 395 Meadow
It's a green/blue/tan color. Very soft and kind of stretchy.

Anyways...here's the magazine/dress barn one:

I think I am going to do another one a little differently...I think instead of making it double thick I will just make it single and just end it when I have the length I want and leave it with a tie. Then it will stretch more....make it lay better prob....I could do it better...I'll update you on it!:)

Merino/Angora/Cashmere by Tanglewood Fiber Creations
4oz/113g hanks, each approx 188yd/172m (merino wool/angora/ cashmere)
2 hanks in northwest autumn
Needles:
One size 8 (5mm) circular needle, 24"/61cm long or size to obtain gauge
Two size 8 (5mm) doublepointed needles (dpns)
Notions
Stitch marker
Instructions:
This versatile piece is worked in the round in an easy eyelet pattern that produces a horizontal lace. It’s a perfect first pattern for a lace-knitting novice.
Finished measurements:
Circumference 24"/61cm
Height Approx 15"/38cm

15 sts and 36 rnds = 4"/10cm over eyelet pat using size 8 (5mm) needles.
Take time to check gauge.

6 ways to display a quilt

Idea #1:

As a Pillow

A small quilt or an unfinished piece begs for a new life as a bolster pillow—and you don’t even have to cut it to make one. Center a 4x4-foot piece (the quilt at left is designed by Blue Nickel Studios with Anna Maria Horner’s “Good Folks” fabrics) on a 36 x 18-inch pillow. Fold the sides over the back of the pillow, secure with diaper pins, then fold over the top and bottom and pin. Tip: If your sofa is patterned (say, navy stripes), make a pillow out of a quilt that has contrasting prints in the same color family (like an aqua floral).

Idea #2:
- As a Bed Canopy
  
  Make your little girl’s dream of snoozing underneath a canopy come true. Screw in two ceiling hooks above the bed, each positioned about a foot from the wall and 6 inches in from the bed’s sides. Gather the short ends of a king-size quilt into two equal bunches, then tightly tie each with 1 1/2-inch grosgrain ribbon. Slip the ribbon onto the hooks and fluff the folds to conceal the hardware. And don’t be afraid to mix eras— this vintage quilt plays off the more modern pillow and spread made with fabric from Amy Butler’s “Love” collection.
  
  Idea # 3:
  - As a Tablecloth
    Bring the picnic indoors: Drape a machinewashable coverlet over a table to add homespun charm to a brunch or casual dinner. A table that seats six calls for a queen-sized quilt (like this Antique Postage Stamp Quilt from L.L. Bean). Stick to a design with a small pattern and simple tableware (think white plates, napkins in a pale color) so that the quilt can be the star.
    
    Idea # 4:
    - As a Shower Curtain
      Rig up a homemade version using curtain rings with clips and a pretty bedcover (we used Pottery Barn’s Lucca Patchwork Quilt). First, test to be sure the rod can support the weight of the quilt. String the rings on your rod, then clip them onto the hem every 3 inches or so (you may need to fold over the top hem just slightly so that the bottom doesn’t drag on the floor). Because mold and mildew breed in bathrooms, you’ll need to use a waterproof shower curtain liner and take down the quilt periodically to launder it.

      As a Table Skirt
      
      What’s behind the curtain? Thanks to this clutter concealer, no one will ever know. To make it, measure the height of your table and cut the quilt lengthwise to that measurement. Then fold it in half widthwise and cut it in two along the fold. Place the bound edges in the center front and at the bottom; starting at the front and working toward the sides, staple-gun the raw edge of each piece every few inches to the top edge of the table. Cut off any excess fabric at the back. Finish by gluing on 2-inch-wide grosgrain ribbon to hide the staples and the raw edge.
      
      Idea #6 :
      
      As a Seat Cushion Cover
      
      Reupholstering can be pricey, but by salvaging a scrap of a quilt and doing the job yourself, you—and your wallet—will be sitting pretty. Remove the chair’s existing cushion, center the fabric on it and flip it over. Staple-gun the fabric about an inch from the underside edge, every 2 inches or so, starting with the center of each side and smoothing and tightening the fabric as you work toward the corners. Take care with the corners, folding as needed to create streamlined edges. Trim the excess fabric.
